Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Zina Francis-Smith

          The Student Services Department of Clearwater Middle School  is committed to     developing, coordinating, and delivering sensitive services and programs that contribute to the special  social, emotional, physical, and behavioral development  of the middle school student.

  • To fulfill this mission, the Student Services Department assists students in:

  • developing an awareness of their personal values, self-concept, and behaviours.

  • evaluating relationships and understanding how to utilize their communication skills for effective problem solving

  • understanding how taking  responsibility for their actions and making well thought-out decisions can enhance their lives

  • exploring and evaluating education, career and personal choices and their consequences

  • understanding the relationship between school performance and future choices.

The Student Services Department consists of two guidance counselors – Mr. Richard Gibbons and Mrs. Zina Francis-Smith; one educational therapist – Mrs. Jackie Wilson; and one educational therapist assistant - Ms Cindy Richardson; and secretary, Miss Leslita Simmons.  

Please note the following procedures:

  • A student should always secure permission from the class teacher to visit the counselors or educational therapist.
  • All students should have in their possession a pass slip when they return to class from the counselors or educational therapist.
  • The classroom teacher should note the date and time on the pass slip and take the slip from the student.
